quick fix : Office Chair

Since I came back home I went through 2 office chairs... really, I didn't think I'd go through that many in 4 years...

Actually, the first one I bought, nothing's wrong with it, I just want a bigger one. :) So I bought a second one... a big more expensive than the first, but more comfortable... Anyhow... last week, it gave out on me.

Yeah, office chair... the gas thing died on me... I was just sitting down (after gotten up to get something mere minutes earlier) and it slowly lower to the bottom. So I got up, adjusting the height again.. And again, it slowly lower to the bottom.

I went and searched for a way to fix this, since the rest of it was fine. But the only answer I got was that I have to change the gas lift. I thought, hair furniture store.

I went to 2 big ones, they said they don't have the parts.

I went to home improvement store, they suggested I went to the place I bought it and have it repair.

Hell no!!

So I bought a PVC pipe.. 1.5" in diameter, 2 of them, it's only about 5 inches long for each (it was a connector or something) I thought this would woke, after all, I don't adjust the height at all when I use the chair. So, something to hold the seat up would work and there!!

Besides it's a hell of a lot cheaper than getting the parts, or waiting for repair. I just had to cut out a section and force the pipe around the core and that's it!

I added a padding to the doll slot, it's a rubber foam thing, about 1/4 inch thick in blue. I also cut out a design... it's a bird, :)

Closer look.

TBC I'll have to get the photo from my Laptop.

My sister, my mom recently got into Blythe, yeah... that weird little doll. And me being the DIY type... I made a doll trunk... my aunt snatched it up at the end, but it was the first one, which I made to figure things out, what worked and what didn't, stuff like that...

I don't have the very first picture, but this is the left side. Also first few mistakes.

With the drawers finished, the handles I used blue ribbon and glued 2 strips of red leather strips on top, then I attached it with hot glue and put in 2 thumb tacks.

The closet side, it was a bit neater than the other side.. because I started to learn a few things. :) Or rather, making it easier on myself.

With a hanging rod.

Hi,

Yes, I know, it's been while. I've been busy with a lot of things, I'm trying to summon up enough concentration to write but that's been a little slow. So... I've been trying to organize my own desk as well.. I tied up and wrapped all the cords so they look neat and clean instead of the clutter that I usually have (both underneath and on the desk) I'm some what successful with it, my desk looks more or less orderly now. LOL. And since the desk space was rather small I tried to find the monitor stand so I can store my keyboard underneath when I try to do other things (cutting stuff, stickers, drawing.. etc.) Couldn't find one that suit me though, so I made one!!! (I got the idea from lifehacker.com) Anyway, if you are not too terribly busy and have a moment,

here's the process )
